ASG Headquarters call for a creative solution to establish a functional office tower as well as to address the tropical monsoon climate, with just two distinct seasons: wet and dry. With the wind direction in mind, the design aims to allow wind in dry season to pass through building - optimizing natural ventilation and cooling of the building.
The concept takes this opportunity of lifting portions of the building to create generous arrival lobby on the lower floor and flexible communal space on the upper floor. Due to the monsoon climate, the flood level is rather high in this part of Jakarta, therefore the design only employs one and a half underground basement parking, lifting the whole development higher than the surrounding ground, and at the same time moving the remaining parking above the lobby - a floating podium.
On the south sides of both towers, double skin facades react to outside conditions and regulate temperature indoor, making the building one step closer to energy efficient. On the upper floors, large wind-fans like louvers lift the top portion of the buildings, potentially receive cool breeze and block unwanted humid air into the outdoor sky garden/lounges.
