Inspired by the local landscape - mountainside rockforms and terraced rice fields in Guiyang, the commercial entertainment hub is integrated with densely distributed programs on an existing hillside. This not only will satisfy the newly developed 1000hectares of immediate development, but also attract visitors from everywhere in the city core. The idea is to create a true destination so that it becomes a catalyst to boost local economical and cultural activities.
The design calls for a closely integrated solution so that major programs are interrelated to one another - not only by placement, but also by thinking how one can be augmented with the help of integration. The result is an upper plaza that has access to Water Park, Performance Theatre, Aviary/Aquarium, Terrace Dining, and Retail Shopping Mall which is sitting underneath everything. In a more detailed approach, the hotel is carefully placed beside aquarium in order to create opportunity for the selective rooms to be opened up to the largest fish tank in China - an underwater hotel. Water Park also utilizes the Aquarium so that one of its slide goes through a shark tank, with viewing on both side of the Aquarium and Water Park.
The project is supported by professional consultants in order to strengthen and validate design strategies. We work with Aquarium consultant, Oceanis, to carefully propose preliminary design of attraction circulation, tank placement, and cost estimation even in the early stage. For us to work with media consultant also gave us an accurate understanding of how media plays the role in the holistic scheme.
Water Park design is created by a in-house water park design team.
